How it works

From committee to the floor

  1. Write a bill in a team of 2 to 4 and submit it by Feb 5, 2027.
  2. Committee. Bills are heard in numbered committees in the House and Senate.
  3. The floor. Bills that move forward are debated in the chambers at the Capitol on Friday.
  4. The Governor decides whether to sign or veto, now with advice from the Cabinet.

Middle School. Middle school delegates run their own Youth Assembly track at the same conference.

Leadership

Committee Chairs

  • Committee Chairs lead committee hearings. Apply by Feb 5, 2027.
  • The Senate President and Speaker of the House are elected at the State Conference.
  • AI is a tool for research. It can't write your bill, brief or speech, and you must understand and defend your positions.
